Donna Murray (aka MurrayGirl) is the Instructional Technology Specialist for Hickory Public Schools. She is a wife, mother, teacher, and self-proclaimed nerd.
She taught in the classroom for nine years before becoming an ITS in 2004. She has been in HPS since 2008.
When she’s not at work, you can find her on her laptop or spending time with her family. Or both at the same time.

Donna’s role as an Instructional Technology Specialist:
- Provide assistance to staff in the selection of technology resources and solutions.
- Develop, coordinate, and implement technology professional development.
- Work with system-level personnel to assess and plan for new technologies.
- Investigate and disseminate information on best practices for technology integration.
- Communicate with technology vendors.
- Support school staff in the operation of instructional and administrative technology systems.
- Assist in the integration of technology into the instructional program.
- Develop and model instructional activities for staff within the district.
- Serve as a source of information on trends, research, applications, and effective practices related to technology use in the school program.
